a: passage from one state, stage, subject, or place to another : changeEach of us experiences transition; whether we like it or not. Some are self initiated and others are forced upon us by external forces in life.
b: a movement, development, or evolution from one form, stage, or style to another.
These days I find myself better able to handle transitions than when I was younger. I also realize that, lately, many of the relatively large, life-altering changes I have experienced have been initiated by me.
I find myself, once again, in the beginning of a large transition involving my career. I was re-offered a position at another company and decided it was time for me accept it.
Normally, I would be feeling very anxious and fearful of the change. I would be worrying about finances, having to 'start over', challenge level of the new position, getting along with the new colleagues, etc. I can honestly say that I have finally learned to overcome my fears.
My experience has taught me that I have all the skills and resources I need to remain intact throughout the process. It has taught me that every transition I go through brings me closer to my life goals; even if I don't recognize it immediately. Some of the best things in my life have come as a result of change.
These days I welcome transitions. Which is quite an evolution from my former self. With age and experience comes wisdom.
Transition is just another of life's teachers.
