12 Laws of Life

I came across this by accident and it really moved me. It seems to be written by Tom Hoobyar (The Street Smart CEO) who used to be a Silicon Valley CEO turned life guru after realizing his career was taking a toll on his health.

In a nutshell:
  1. Self-management and people skills are the keys to your success and happiness.
  2. You are at the center of your universe. Stay there!
  3. What you think about most is what you get.
  4. You make your habits and then your habits make you.
  5. Guilt enslaves you. Responsibility liberates you.
  6. "Obligations" are a fraud.
  7. Expect less from others and more from yourself.
  8. Nobody wakes up in the morning choosing to be the villain.
  9. There is no "happily ever after" in the real world.
  10. There is a Hell, and it starts early.
  11. You can create paradise on Earth. Many people do.
  12. It's never too late to change.

Using my computer monitor for my XBox 360 Elite

Premise:
Bought a nice big screen LCD TV last year
Finally about an XBox 360 last year
Babsie loves watching Treehouse TV (toddler programs).
Wifey enjoys watching many night-time soaps and reality shows
Daddy gets no time to play with his XBox on the TV :(

The Idea:
My XBox 360 Elite has HDMI-out
My monitor has DVI-in
HDMI maps nicely to DVI
I should be able to connect my XBox 360 to my montor

Setup:
1 Samsung 2253BW 22" Monitor

1 XBox 360 Elite

1 HDMI to DVI cable

Results:

After plugging everything in and firing up my Xbox I'm pleased to see my dashboard loading up. Most surprising is how the Xbox automagically figured out which resolution to use (1680 x 1050). The video quality is great!

At this point I realize that I have no sound; which makes sense because DVI doesn't carry sound like HDMI does.

However, the special audio adapter that came with my Xbox helped out nicely.

I used this to pipe sound to my Logitech Z4 speaker set.

Great Success!
